At first I liked the TV and Xbox controller combo better, but the more I played on the iPhone, the more I grew to love that control scheme. Both the primary and tertiary gameplay loops are assuredly weaker than in Gungeon, but thats alright. The tutorial does a good job explaining the gameplay and runs you through some simple training sessions to get used to the controls. Exit the Gungeon retains the roguelike and bullet hell qualities of its predecessor, but mixes things up by changing the gameplay style from a top down viewpoint to a more traditional 2D side.

As someone who didn’t play much of Enter the Gungeon (the game’s predecessor), I didn’t really know what to expect other than a frantic and challenging game with lots and lots of bullets. Of all the Apple Arcade launch games that I’ve played, Exit the Gungeon is one of the most enjoyable and addicting experiences so far. Exit the Gungeon is a bullet hell rogue-like elevator game that’s impossible to put down.
